[edit] History

The band was formed in June 1996 by Nefas and Blizzard as Stone to Flesh. In February 1997, The Stone recorded their first demo entitled Serbian Woods. In February 1998, the band recorded its second demo, Killed by the Sun. Demonion Productions, a small underground label from Greece, released Unveiled Evil tape that featured both demo materials.

In 1999, the band recorded Some Wounds Bleed Forever, their first full-length album. A part of the atmosphere from NATO bombing of Yugoslavia was recorded and used as an intro to the opening track. The album was released in 2000 by CCP Records from Austria.

In 2002, band released their second studio album called Словенска Крв ("Slavic Blood"). The album was released by Wolfcult Production from Germany. In December 2002, band recorded two new songs as an opening bonus for the re-release of Unveiled Evil. Album was released as Трагом Хромога Вука ("Following the Trace of the Lame Wolf") released in March 2003. In early 2003, the band performed in Belgrade with Czech band Root (band). In 2004, the band released their fourth full-length album Закон Велеса ("The Law of Veles"). The tour with Negură Bunget was arranged, but due to some financial problems The Stone canceled their part in this tour. In December 2004, The Stone released the EP Чујете ли, смеју нам се мртви... ("Can You Hear That, the Dead are Laughing to Us...").

In summer 2005, The Stone played very successful mini tour in Germany and Belgium and signed a contract with cult German label Folter Records. During the winter of 2006, the band recorded their fourth full-length album Магла ("The Mist"). After the recording Aksinomantijan (drums) left the band and was replaced by Ved. The same year The Stone relased their first DVD Live Curse From the East, which featured The Stone and May Result concert in Split.

In 2007 the band re-relaeased Some Wounds Bleed Forever under the Serbian title Неке Ране Крваре Вечно and live EP Triumph - Dark - Brotherhood, recorded The Stone and Inferno concert in Split.
