The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie Game is a SpongeBob SquarePants video game, based on the film, which was based on the show.

The plot of the video game is very similar of the film. King Neptune's crown has been stolen by Plankton and SpongeBob and Patrick must retrieve it from where Plankton sold it to: Shell City. A few areas in the game are not seen in the film, such as the level "Drive of the Knucklehead-McSpazatron", where Spongebob and Patrick must drive through Planktopolis to get to the Krusty Krab.

The graphics are similar to those from Battle for Bikini Bottom. There are 18 levels in the game that loosely follow the storyline of the movie.
Levels are as they follow:
- No Cheese: SpongeBob must travel through a small part of the town to get to the Krusty Krab in his dream.
- I'm Ready Depression: Patrick must travel through Goofy Goober bar to get the goofy goober token. Features the first combat arena challenge and the first sonic wave guitar challenge. Featuring bonus missions Up Chocolate Creek & An Ounce of Bounce.
- Sandwich Driving 101: In the "Patty Wagon", SpongeBob and Patrick must travel to the edge of town.
- Three... Thousand Miles to Shell City: SpongeBob must travel through the desert. Features the first SpongeBall challenge and the first Floating Block Challenge plus a hidden Bungee Challenge. Featuring bonus missions Bouncy, Bouncy, Bouncy and Patrick Gets Steamed.
- Rub a dub dub slip slide in the tub: In a bathtub, SpongeBob and Patrick must travel to the Thug Tug, hitting targets to destroy Plankton's evil radio towers on the way.
- Bubble Blowing Baby Hunt: Patrick must travel through the Thug Tug to collect the key. Features the second Combat Arena Challenge, the second SpongeBall challenge and the second Sonic Wave Guitar challenge. Features bonus missions Disco Star and Throwing the Fruit Electric.
- No Weenie Parking Anytime: To exit the highway the Thug Tug is located on, SpongeBob and Patrick must collect five keys to unlock the gates in three laps.
- I'll Let You Pet Mr. Whiskers: As Patrick, you must fight of the Frog Fish.
- Rock Slide: In a shell, SpongeBob and Patrick must slide to the bottom of the trench.
- Now That We're Men: SpongeBob must travel across the deep dark trench, battling monsters on the way. Features the third Combat Arena Challenge, the second Floating Block Challenge, a Bungee Challenge. Features bonus missions Frozen Lava Desert and Swinging Starfish.
- Shell City, Dead Ahead: Patrick must travel through a garbage yard, destroying televisions which are sending messages for people to come to Planktopolis only to be enslaved. Features the third SpongeBall challenge, the third Sonic Wave Guitar challenge and the third Floating Block Challenge. Features bonus missions Cirque De Malaise and Three Meter Island.
- Name's Dennis: Patrick must defeat Dennis to save SpongeBob.
- Sundae Driving: After being kidnapped by the Cyclops, SpongeBob and Patrick fall into a deep sleep in which they must chase after the goofy goober.
- Google Eyes and Smelly Knick Knacks: Riding on King Neptune's crown, SpongeBob and Patrick must escape Shell City by hitting faucets and knocking over lamps to create a track.
- Dennis Strikes Back: On the back of the Hasselhoff, SpongeBob must defeat Dennis.
- Welcome to Planktopolis... Minions: SpongeBob must cross Planktopolis, defeating Plankton's killer towers on the way. Features the fourth (and final) Combat Arena Challenge, the fourth SpongeBall Challenge and a Bungee Challenge. Features bonus missions Ice Skating Idiot and More Bounce Please.
- Drive of the Knucklehead McSpazatron: SpongeBob and Patrick must travel to the Krusty Krab as fast as possible to avoid the falling debris of the dying Planktopolis.
- Turn the Tables on Plankton: SpongeBob must defeat the buckethead King Nepune.
BONUS LEVELS:
- Combat Arena Challenge: A giant arena of enemies being spawned by giant Plankton heads on top a Jellyfish Fields plateau.
- Floating Blocks Challenge: Patrick hops across a tricky set of blocks that include blocks that move, blocks that disappear and icy blocks.
- SpongeBall Challenge: SpongeBob transforms into a ball to roll across a course of flipping platforms, falling platforms, fans, blowing vents and half-destroyed tunnels.
- Sonic Wave Guitar Challenge: SpongeBob must drive his sonic wave through a set of rings without missing any or hitting anything.

Unlike the other versions of the game, the PC version has different gameplay, and less levels. It has the same gameplay as SpongeBob SquarePants: Employee of the Month.
