[edit] What is known

"The Society" or "the Society" is the name of a secret organization at the College of William and Mary. There appears to have been little knowledge of the group or its activities before 2008, when a series of notebooks titled "community autobiography" were distributed to various members of campus. Instructions in the notebooks asked recipients to include short descriptions of meaningful events associated with their time at the College. The Society was subsequently mentioned in several stories in the College newspaper, The Flat Hat. A symbol included in the notebooks and assumed by The Flat Hat to be associated with the Society is an apple with an "S" inscribed in it.
