The Sevenwater Trilogy is an historical fantasy series by Juliet Marillier and was published as a series of three novels between 1999 and 2001.

The three novels are set in ninth century Ireland and Britain.
[edit] Plot Summary
The series covers three generations in the family of Sevenwaters and the battle between the Irish Celts and the Britons, primarily over several small fictional islands south of the Isle of Man. All the books are narrated by females in the first perspective.
[edit] Daughter of the Forest
Daughter of the Forest is based loosely on "The Six Swans" (a story that has many versions, one of which by the Brothers Grimm). A girl (Sorcha) must sew six shirts from a painful nettle plant in order to save her brothers from a witch's enchantment, They have been turned into Swans and can only be returned if she creates a shirt for each bother with her own hands and must remain completely mute until the task is finished. She ends up taken to Harrowfield in Briton and falls in love which complicates her mission.
[edit] Son of the Shadows
Son of the Shadows is the story of Sorcha's daughter Liadan and her capture by a band of outlaws lead by the Painted Man. She eventually falls in love with him whom she names Bran. Bran assists in the rescue of Liadan's sister Niamh. Bran is eventually captured and tortured by Eamonn her former suitor, Liadan rescues Bran. Their child will then become the Child of the Prophecy that will lead them to victory in the battle of over their sacred islands.

Child of the Prophecy is the story of Fainne the daughter of Niamh and Ciaran, she is raised in Kerry as a sorcerers daughter and is forced by her grandmother the Lady Oonagh to return to Sevenwaters to kill the Child of the Prophecy at the last moment during the battle with the Britons over their sacred islands.
