The Settlers IV is a Real Time Strategy computer game developed by Blue Byte Software, being the third sequel to The Settlers.
In The Settlers IV the player can control one of three races; the Mayans, the Vikings and the Romans. In the single player campaigns there is a fourth race, The Dark Tribe. The Dark Tribe are a tribe of slaves and worshippers of a banished god. They burn away all the green of the world and destroy nature infesting the land with gigantic fungi and horrible constructions.
The multiplayer component of the game includes free empire building against other empires and a "free settle" mode where there are no enemies.
