The Set Up also known as The Set Up (You Don't Know) was Obie Trice's second single from his debut album Cheers. It features Nate Dogg. The song was the final single from the album in both the UK and Australia.
Obie raps the verses and Nate Dogg sings the chorus. The beat is produced by Dr. Dre. The video for The Setup also features Warren G and Mýa.
An official remix of the song was released featuring Lloyd Banks, Jadakiss, Redman (rapper) and Nate Dogg. In the song redman raps "I have her legs hangin' out the trunk like The Marshall Mathers LP". This is actually incorrect, the album redman was referring to was the cover of The Slim Shady LP.
The video is about Obie Trice being put 'under the spell' of a lady, who encourages him to steal a lot of money. Little does he realise, it's a set up and he gets shot in order for her to get the money. But as Karma would have it, she gets shot and the money gets stolen from her. The video ends with Obie getting up, being thankful for wearing a bulletproof vest.
Other than Obie Trice, the video features Nate Dogg and Mýa, with a brief cameos by members of D12 in the club, and Warren G at the beginning.
