[edit] History

Scott Mills took over the drivetime slot in 2004 from Sara Cox, taking some of her team with him. He has now established a firm place at Radio 1, and the show has won numerous awards.

[edit] Format

The show begins at 4.00pm, with two records played following on from the afternoon show that has just finished. At the end of the first record, Scott begins the show with a catchphrase. On Monday - Thursday the catchphrase is "Alright Treacle" and on Fridays it starts with "It's Only Bley Friday" Shouted over a loud piece of music, signalling the start of the weekend. There is a mix of music and chat up until 16:30 where Newsbeat announces the headlines, followed by two records. There is then usually a feature of some kind (Such as 'Flirt Divert') up to 5.00pm where there are headlines from Newsbeat. There is then the main feature (A game involving other members of the team or the listeners) together with music and general chat up until 5:45pm, except on Fridays when this becomes 'The Wonder Years'. There is very little talking, and older songs from the nineties are played instead of the mainstream playlist . At this point Newsbeat takes over as a separate programme, offering in-depth news from the day. At 6.00pm, 'The Scott Mills Show' begins again, with two records. The show then takes a more relaxed format, making light of the fact that many listeners have now turned off. There is less audience participation, and no major competitions or features.

On Fridays, this is broadcast as a separate show The Scott Mills Friday Floor fillers. This contains very little talking, and dance music is played, to celebrate the fact that most people have now finished work for the weekend.

[edit] Team members

The main host is Scott Mills, who is joined by sidekick and sports journalist Mark Chapman (aka. Chappers or Chopper). The shows producer is Emlyn Dodd, who is referred to as "The One That Doesn't Speak". The assistant producer was Laura Sayers until April 2008. The current assistant producer is known only as 'Becky' or 'Wacky Beccy'. This team travel with Scott when he does breakfast, although the production team and Chappers have been known to stay on afternoons as well, Mainly with Sara Cox.

[edit] Cover Presenters

Scott regularly covers the breakfast show when the host, Chris Moyles, goes on holiday. The show becomes "The Chris Moyles Show with Scott Mills". The Drivetime show is then covered by another DJ, mainly Sara Cox or JK and Joel, although Nihal has done it recently as Sara is on maternity leave and JK and Joel have now left Radio 1. The Show then becomes "The Scott Mills Show with.....[presenter]"

[edit] Scott Mills Gold with Chappers

This is presented by Mark Chapman and features a few clips of Scott's features every hour. This is produced by the Scott Mills show team, rather than the Chappers and Dave team.
