The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight is the 20th book in R.L. Stine's Goosebumps series.

Two kids named Mark and Jodie who go for a visit to see their grandparents begin to notice something strange when their grandparents are not the same, and their gandfather always tells them scary storys before they go to bed, the creepy groundskeeper named Stanley is even creepier and the scarecrows seem to move, twitch and ultimately...dance. One night, Jodie looks out her window and sees the scarecrows moving. Mark tells her it is just the wind, and her grandparents act like they did not hear. The book ends with them finding out that the Stanley used a book of spells to make them come to life. At the very end of the book Matt and Jodie end up running away from the scarecrows.Jodie ran in the barn and hid but a scarecrow started comming up to her.As Jodie prepares to be murdered by walking straw scarecrows, she notices Sticks is no longer in the victim circle. Suddenly a bright flash appears from behind the line of advancing scarecrows: It's Sticks, and he's got lit torches. Well that's great, after he takes care of those scarecrows, he can chase Frankenstein and go to a lynching. Sticks wields the torches like baseball bats and burns every scarecrow to ashes. Never again, says Stanley.

Jodie and her brother Mark are staying with their grandparents. Almost immediately, they notice strange behavior from their relatives. Everyone seems to be extremely nervous around the scarecrows. They later play a trick on their grandparent's friend and find out that he was making some of the scarecrows come to life. He casts a spell to bring all of the scarecrows to life, but they then stop him. In the end he causes a crop chopper to come to life and the episode ends with the chopper going towards the house.
