[edit] Staff
The Saginaw News is headed up by editor/publisher Paul Chaffee, who joined the publication in the 1980s. Its editorial staff is led by metro editor Jodi McFarland, and assistants Paul Rau, Mike Beyer, and Terrence Smith. The Saginaw News also has a feature, opinion and sports section. Reports and their coverage beats include: Darryl Tucker, courts; Justin Engel, City Hall and colleges; Dean Bohn, police; LaNia Coleman, police; Jean Spenner, business; Paul Wyche, business; Corey Mitchell, schools; Denise Mitchell, schools; and Amy Payne, schools.
[edit] Readership
The reporting staff has been depleted over the years, down to 9 reporters from 13 in 2005. Many blame the shrinking staff on the falling number of subscribers and readers due to the number of people who have left Saginaw.
