The Root is an English-language online magazine of African American culture launched on January 28, 2008 by Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and Donald E. Graham. The Root is owned by the Washington Post Company through its online subsidiary, Washington Post-Newsweek Interactive. It is developed using ASP.NET.
