[edit] History
The school moved to its present site in the late 1950s and was originally known as Priestlands Secondary Modern School until the late 1970s when it became a comprehensive. In 2000, it became a Specialist Language College jointly with The Mountbatten School. In 2005 the school's specialisation changed to a Mathematics and Computing College - one of the first British schools to make such a switch.[1]
[edit] Achievement
The professional magazine Children Now gave the school its inaugural Community School of the Year award in 2006.[2]
In 2007 the school again won the Community school of the year award, now re-branded the Extended School of the Year award.[3]
[edit] Catchment area
The normal catchment area for the school includes the villages of Ampfield, Braishfield, Sherfield English, Michelmersh, Timsbury and the part of Romsey to the north of the Eastleigh to Romsey railway line, east of the Sun Arch, north of the A27 from the Sun Arch to the Plaza Roundabout, continuing along the by-pass over Middlebridge. The school attracts a significant number of pupils from outside this area, particularly from the nearby city of Southampton.
