The Rifles are an English indie rock band from Walthamstow, London. They are heavily influenced by The Clash, The Jam and '90s Britpop. Their debut album "No Love Lost" was released on 17 July 2006 and was produced by Ian Broudie. The band first received acclaim on the Saturday morning show Soccer am through the song Local Boy, their music is regularly played on the show. The band toured in 2006 and performed at A Campingflight to Lowlands Paradise 2007, a music festival in the Netherlands. The Rifles have undertaken a European tour to promote their new album including a gig at the Forum, London in which Paul Weller (The Jam) appeared on stage to play the song "She's The Only One" with the band and The Jam's famous single "The Eton Rifles". On May 9th, 2008 The Rifles announced through their MySpace blog that they had started recording their second album which is to be released this year.

  • The band have appeared on Cult Saturday morning show Soccer AM as guests, and frequently have their music aired on the show; this included a cover of the Only Fools and Horses theme.
  • The Rifles are said to be Fans of West Ham United FC after appearing on stage at the London Astoria with a West Ham flag over the speakers.
  • Guitarist Lucas Crowther earned himself the nickname 'Robin Hood' after an appearance on Soccer AM Where host Tim Lovejoy pointed out he had the same hat as the Nottinghamshire legend
  • The song 'Robin Hood' was named after this when singer Joel Stoker asked the crowd to name an unnamed song at a gig, and 'Robin Hood' was the first response the boys heard and then went on to name the song after it
  • Their new song 'Talking' was given the accolade of 'Hottest Record in the World' by Radio One DJ Zane Lowe.
