- This was the first album not to feature all of the band's founding members. Drummer Albert Bouchard was fired during the previous tour.
- This was the first Blue Öyster Cult album longer than 42 minutes (discounting double live albums).
- This album was produced by Bruce Fairbairn, who would later go on to produce three of the most popular albums by the band Aerosmith - Permanent Vacation, Pump, and Get a Grip.
- Aldo Nova is a guest guitarist on the track "Take Me Away."
- Randy Jackson, of American Idol fame, plays the bass part on "Shooting Shark."
- The lyrics to "Shooting Shark" were based on a poem by Patti Smith.
