The Retrosexuals are a 3-piece electro-rock band from Glasgow, Scotland. Their music is comprised of distorted bass friction, angular guitar funk and strangulated synth lines, which the band describes as "Contortopop".

The band was formed in 2004 by brothers Neck Doppler and The Render General. Their first audio project together, formed in 2000, went under the name Eye and Ear Control, and was described by Carlos M. Pozo of Angbase as "playfully disturbed music that plays like a fractured outsider take on pop, IDM and techno." They played their first gig in 2000 with Spanish glitchpop band OPOPOP, which was recorded and released by Consume. They played their last gig in 2004 at the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow. Overall Eye and Ear Control released 4 albums on CONSUME.

Well, after the death of Eye and Ear Control, Neck and Render decided to burn their samplers and pick up their guitars. They did however keep their drum machine and made a pact to form an electrorock band called THE RETROSEXUALS. To do this Neck grabbed his electric guitar, took off all but two strings and added a bass string. Render decided to keep it neat and stuck to 6 strings. They did however realise that in order to become an electrorock band they would need a keyboard player, so they asked Neck’s girlfriend at the time (now wife) Nina Nina to play keyboards with them. She had never been in a band before and had never played an instrument but she said YES.

And so, The Retrosexuals became fully formed…

Demos of their recent single release- Telephone / WIth You- have already surreptitiously squeezed their way onto many DJ playlists around the world and the track TELEPHONE is currently being remixed by the mighty NACHLADER from Berlin who recently remixed Bloc Party and whose music also appeared on the soundtrack to the Playstation game ‘Fifa Soccer 2005’ along with Franz Ferdinand, New Order, Air and others.

The band have had tracks played on RADIO 1, Beat 106, Artrocker radio, Flora radio in Germany and have done a session for Radio Magenetic. In November last year they were commissioned to write songs and perform them live at the MAIS arts festival in Brussels along with 3 other bands/musicians. They have also just completed their first European tour which happened in August covering 4 dates in Germany, 3 in Holland and 1 in France.
