There have been at least two bands:

• The Red Roosters were a Los Angeles, California-based band from 1965 that featured some members of what would later be Spirit.

• Red Rooster formed in the fall of 1998 and is led by Jay Erickson (guitar and vocals) and Nat Zilkha (lead guitar). Some albums have included Porch songs and Dose.

• The Red Roosters are blues/rock from Osijek, Croatia
