The RAND Journal of Economics[1] (usually called Rand Journal or simply Rand ) is a scholarly journal of economics published quarterly by the RAND Corporation.[2] It is one of the leading journals in economics and is considered to be the top journal in industrial organization.[citation needed] The purpose of Rand Journal, as described in its webpage is "...to support and encourage research in the behavior of regulated industries, the economic analysis of organizations, and more generally, applied microeconomics." Rand publishes both theoretical and empirical papers. It was first published in 1970, when it was called The Bell Journal of Economics and Management Science (1970-1974). Later it came to be known as The Bell Journal of Economics (1975-1983) and from 1984, it acquired its present name The RAND Journal of Economics. The present editor-in-chief of the journal is James R. Hosek of the RAND Corporation.[3]
