The Plight is a punk rock band from Leeds, England.

The band started in Leeds in late 2004 and used to practise in a block of abandoned offices in Rodley, Leeds. After releasing a demo The Plight then signed to Thirty Days Of Night Records with whom they released a short 7 track, 18 minute EP. A full UK tour with Gallows followed along with a selection of dates with bands such as The Suicide File, SSS and Sick Of It All.

In March 2007 when The Plight were signed by Visible Noise Records, home to Bring Me The Horizon, The Legacy, and Lostprophets. Their debut Visible Noise release Black Summer, was released on October 8th 2007 and was well received by the press.

The band are schedueled to appear on a UK tour with Poison The Well in April 2008, followed by a European tour with Converge in July. According to their Myspace they are currently writing their first full-length album which is going to be recorded in August 2008.


The Plight are endorsed by Gibson Guitars, Atticus Clothing and Sabian Cymbals.


Rumours about the band's ambiguous sexuality remain unconfirmed.
