This article is about the band. For the concept put forth by Plato, see philosopher king.

The Philosopher Kings are a Canadian R&B band and were a commercially successful band in the late 1990s. The name of the band is derived from Plato's Republic, in which he outlines the design of an idealistic government, ruled by philosopher-kings. The band has experienced varied levels of success, and has led the front into a unique style of music, somewhat followed by Garner Band, and other new bands.
