The Paper Lads

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Paper Lads was a children's television series made by Tyne Tees Television and broadcast in 1977 for a brief run of only seven episodes. It was set in Newcastle in North East England, and was based around the adventures of some newspaper delivery boys.

The signature tune of the series, "Back Home Once Again", was performed by progressive folk rock band Renaissance, and appears on their album A Song For All Seasons. It is not certain if Tyne Tees has any tapes surviving, but television sites have used pictures from the show, if episodes survive. It has never been repeated. Two novels based on the series were released by Target Books.

A sequel to The Paper Lads, News of the Paper Lads, was shown in 1978. Script writer William Humble also novelised this series.
