The Omega Man (counterfeiter)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"The Omega Man" is the name given to a counterfeit coin producer who signed his creations with a minute Greek letter omega in the claw of the eagle on the coin. He is believed to have created over 20,000 fake 1907 ultra high-relief US$20 gold Double Eagle coins worth over $300 Million at today's prices. His forgeries are of such high quality that collectors will still pay upwards of $1,000 for one, compared to a genuine coin's value of about $50,000 to $100,000. The identity of The Omega Man is still unknown.
