The Oil Gush in Balakhany (Azerbaijani: Balaxanıda neft fontanı) is one of the earliest films ever produced. Directed by the pioneer of cinema in Azerbaijan, Alexander Mishon, it was filmed on August 4, 1898 in Baku and presented at the International Paris Exhibition [1]. The film was shot using a 35mm film on a Lumière cinematograph.
