The Nodd is an American rock band. The band's early incarnations featured a broad range of moods and an amalgam of writing voices, with contributions from Brandon Krakowsky and Abhi Taranath, resulting in a bold and fun-loving sound that dabbled in several different music idioms. Getting marginal local airplay with 'Just Because', an early track off of their 2004 LP entitled 'Where The Rubber Meets The Road', they played frequent shows in the Philadelphia and surrounding areas. In summer of 2004, The Nodd entered the internationally known band competition originated in Italy, called Emergenza. Having been named winner in the first round, and then in the semifinal round based on audience turnout, The Nodd appeared at the final round, held in The Theater of Living Arts on South Street in their hometown of Philadelphia. The Nodd placed 3rd out of the twelve finalist bands, having one of the most populous fan turnouts and being a favorite of many of the event judges. Through this development, The Nodd was asked by the Emergenza officials to appear as one of the B.E.S.T. bands in the following year's competitions in cities like Chicago, St. Louis, Washington D.C., Memphis and New York.

During this time the band began a working relationship with figures in the industry they met through the Emergenza process and began work on a small batch of material, made up of existing songs and songs previously unrecorded.

After a series of line-up changes over the next two years, the band continued to appear in Philadelphia's premier venues at the time, including Grape Street Philadelphia, Brownie's 38, and Pontiac Grille. Being the one constant in the group since its beginning in February of 2003, Dug began compiling new material in summer of 2007 for a new full-length album with producer Angelo Quaglia (producer on My Flying Car, Give The World To You, From All The Way Over There). In November of 2007 Quaglia engineered and produced a one-day session for Dug's solo disc entitled 'Save Your Energy'. Recorded at Northfire Studios in Amherst, Massachusetts, the EP featured acoustic guitar renditions of songs previously recorded by The Nodd and penned by Dug, with the exception of one previously unreleased song that was inconsideration to appear on the new full-length by The Nodd, slated for release in the spring of 2008. Documentary footage taken during some pre-production sessions at Northfire Studios in April of 2008 provided an inside look at the process of song-writing, arranging and development of production for the material.

Throughout the career of The Nodd, they have made songs drawing from various traditions of music, rock or otherwise, and combine reverence for generations past with bold visions of the future. The Nodd draws on timeless and universal themes of loss, desire, betrayal, ecstasy, longing, and search for purpose with empathy.

The front man of The Nodd is Dug (lead vocals/guitar/piano) a graduate of the Tyler School of Art. [1]
