- Chuck Jones' first Warner Bros. shot as a director. In his new role, he timed the picture, finalized all the writing, produced over 300 layouts, and directed the art design, music, sound effects and animation.
- Up to 5,000 animation drawings were used for this cartoon.
- For the so called "dubbed version" created by Turner, recreated Blue Ribbon title cards were made for this cartoon (see this page for more details). For the 2006 DVD release, the original title cards were found for this cartoon. It is not certain what the intention of the editors was.
- Contrary to the general trend of Warner Bros. cartoons, a cat is depicted here as the hero and the mice as the villains instead of vice versa (see also Ain't We Got Fun).
[edit] Censorship
- When this cartoon aired on the now defunct WB! channel as part of the Kids WB! line-up, the part where Tommy Cat punches the gangland mice was cut short.
