Highway 101's 1993 album, The New Frontier, is considered one of the band's less memorable efforts, having been recorded following several changes in the band's lineup and on a new record label with a new producer.
The absence of original Highway 101 members Jack Daniels and Paulette Carlson put a strain on the band, which at the time featured only one guitarist. Furthermore, they were working with a new record label, Liberty Records, and had a new producer, Chuck Howard, upsetting the productivity the group once possessed. As a result, the group's sound changed significantly from their past work, which featured some appearances atop the Billboard Music Charts.
