The NBC Monday Movie was a television program scheduled every Monday night from 1963 to 1999 on NBC. It was referred to in the early part of its run as NBC Monday Night at the Movies. In 1965, the telecasts resumed on Tuesdays, so it was quite naturally re-named The NBC Tuesday Night Movie. The name would henceforth change depending on what night of the week the program was telecast.
This show featured edited feature films and, in the latter part of its run, made-for-TV movies. The featured films were edited for content, to remove objectionable material, and occasionally, but not always, for time, to reduce the film's running time to fit into the 2-hour timeslot. And as all widescreen films were then, they were pan-and-scanned so the image would fit the standard 4:3 television screen (as opposed to letterbox format).
