The Murder Junkies are an American punk band, most famous for being the backing band of notorious punk rock performer GG Allin. They were originally formed in 1991 when Allin was still in prison, consisting of GG's brother Merle Allin on bass, guitarist Chicken John Rinaldi (San Francisco mayoral candidate in 2007), and drummer Dino Sex.
Chicken John left the band later in 1991, and later voiced negative opinions on GG and the band in the famous documentary Hated: GG Allin And The Murder Junkies, directed by Todd Phillips. He was replaced on guitar by William Weber. Dee Dee Ramone joined the band at the same time as Weber, but quit within a week.
The Murder Junkies recorded their first album, Brutality and Bloodshed for All, for Alive Records in the spring of 1993. Their subsequent tour, which concluded in GG's fatal drug overdose on June 28 of the same year, was chronicled by roadie Evan Cohen in his book I Was A Murder Junkie: The Last Days Of GG Allin.
Merle, Dino and William decided to continue without GG, and recruited a new singer named Mike Denied. They released the album Feed My Sleaze in 1995 with Denied singing, and later a single entitled The Right To Remain Violent.
The Murder Junkies toured sporadically throughout the 1990s and went through several more vocalists, including Jeff Clayton of Antiseen, and J.B. Beverley, a musician from the Washington, D.C. area who fronts two other bands, The Little White Pills and The Wayward Drifters.
The band broke up in 1999, but reunited (with Clayton singing) for a tour in the spring of 2003 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of GG's death, performing alongside GG's first band, The Jabbers, for several shows. In 2005, they completed a tour of continental Europe. In 2006, they appeared at two shows as special guests of CKY, and toured as the opening act for Hank Williams III.
They remain active as of 2007, with a line-up of Merle, Dino, Scotty Wood on guitar, and PP Duvay of Putnam County, NY-based punk band They Hate Us on vocals.
