The Monopoly Game 2 (ザ・モノポリーゲーム 2?)[3] is a Japan-only Super Famicom game. There are minor differences between this game and the board game. When a player goes bankrupt, his property are evenly shared among the surviving players instead of being handed over to the wealthiest surviving player. This minor deviation from the standard Monopoly rules ensures that everyone has an equal chance to win the game. However, some players could find it to be simulating a socialist economy instead of the traditional capitalist economy that inspired the North American version of the board game.
The overall play is a tournament format and the game is fully in Japanese. In the background, pretty Belle Époque music is playing as the tournament progess into more difficult games against players who have shrewd bargaining skills and have the increasingly uncanny abililty to differentiate between a good real estate purchase and a move that is not considered to be profitable. It becomes harder to trade with the other players as the more skilled are always looking for the best deals in town.
