[edit] Plot summary
When Nora Palmer is playing Miami Beach a Go-Go in the tub with the Funcrafts, Annabelle Doll is up in the soap dish disappointed she can't do much since she is not a plastic doll. When Nora leaves the tub, she forgets the Funcrafts, and Annabelle doesn't have anyone to play with that night. The next day, Annabelle's Auntie Sarah comes up with an idea to harvest a spiders web and make them into ladders so little dolls can get up into high places. Auntie Sarah, along with Annabelle and Tiffany, decides to go to the attic to look for some spiders. When they realize they've been up for more than a couple of hours, they head for their house, but when Kate comes, Annabelle and Tiffany hide in her backpack, and are taken to school. Deciding to explore, they start to search for Kate, but without success. They finally get into what they think is Kate's backpack, but they soon realize that they are in the wrong one and are going to someone else's house.
When they get to the house, they are chased into a Lego hut by a princess doll called Mean Mimi. They soon meet the PJ Pals, Yvonne, Penny, and Beth; the Troll Twins, Waterfall and Melody; and the Cutouts. They tell Annabelle and Tiffany that they used to be friends with Mimi, but stopped when they realized she was just trying to bully them into doing what she wanted. Since then, Mimi has been bullying them more than ever and has gotten the Sandra doll, Techno Man, and Sleeping Billy on her side.
Mimi begins to wreak havoc. Annabelle and Tiffany turn Sandra and Sleeping Billy against her. Techno Man turns out to not be an action figure, as the others had thought, but just a boy doll who likes to show off. He runs off in embarrassment when everyone sees that he can't do anything but flash lights and make noise. After Mimi leaves, Sandra and Sleeping Billy help clean up the mess. But some things, like the rip in a poster, can't be fixed. The toys all fear that the humans will eventually notice and realize that some dolls are alive, which will mean trouble for dolls everywhere.
Annabelle and Tiffany slip into BJ’s backpack and go to school, where they find Kate’s backpack and make it home. But once they arrive at Kate’s room, they are aghast to find out that Princess Mimi has followed them. Mimi, being the evil doll she is, runs around the Palmers' home, terrorizing Annabelle’s and Tiffany’s families. Annabelle tells the other dolls that if they keep cool and keep a positive head, Mimi will eventually get herself in trouble. Sure enough, when Mimi deliberately jumps down in sight of Nora, she is sent into Permanent Doll State [PDS]. After Mimi is taken away to the school's lost-and-found, the dolls settle down and life returns to normal, with Annabelle finding a new confidence within herself.
