The Mating Game was an MGM color film made in 1959. It is very loosely based on a British novel, The Darling Buds of May, by H.E. Bates, which was made into a miniseries starring Catherine Zeta-Jones in the role that Debbie Reynolds plays in the 1959 film.

A young tax collector named Lorenzo Charlton (Tony Randall) is sent by the IRS to the Larkin family farm in Maryland to collect their back taxes, and falls in love with the farmer's daughter, Mariette (Debbie Reynolds).
