The Mall Ashley

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mall Ashley (previously The Ashley Centre) is a shopping centre, based in Epsom, Surrey.
It was opened in 1983 by Queen Elizabeth II as The Ashley Centre and was rebranded in 2005 as The Mall Ashley following an acquisition by The Mall Company.

Stores in the centre include:

[edit] Refurbishment

The Centre recently began a refurbishment programme to bring the interior in line with The Mall corporate branding; the traditional Ashley Centre blue colour used on the lifts, handrails and various other parts of the centre is being re-painted into either silver or bright pink (The Mall corporate colours), with the inclusion of an 'Ask Me Point' now placed opposite WH Smith and HMV, which serves as an information point for shoppers. The King's Shade Walk area of the centre has been cleared and refitted into a large Boots Chemists.

The toilet and baby change facilities at the centre have been extensively refitted with a contemporary design and with easy access for disabled/less-able customers.

Banners to discourage the use of the old centre name, The Ashley Centre, have been placed upon exterior entrances, featuring the new name prominently until permanent alternatives can be installed. The Market Square entrance has such banners in place. The second entrance, adjacent to the High Street, still features the Ashley Centre name higher up, however lower-level signs have now been changed to display The Mall corporate posters and information. The third entrance, adjacent to the Epsom Playhouse, retains it's original branding.

[edit] Transport

Bus links are provided by London Buses and Countryliner into Epsom town centre, The Mall Ashley being located a few minutes walk from the main stops by the Clock Tower.
The Mall Ashley provides a multi-storey car park and offers Shopmobility for less-able visitors to the centre. The centre is a five minute walk from Epsom railway station.
