The Long Christmas Ride Home

'The Long Christmas Ride Home' is a play by Paula Vogel.

The play is performed in one act and uses theatrical puppetry with Japanese theater techniques. It concerns a family's long-ago automobile trip to visit grandparents, and the emotional turmoil the various members of the family are undergoing. The mother and father are portrayed by actors, with puppets portraying the three children. In present time, the adult children are portrayed by actors.

The play was produced at the Vineyard Theatre in New York, from October 14, 2003 to December 7, 2003. Directed by Mark Brokaw, the cast included Mark Blum, Randy Graff, Enid Graham, Catherine Kellnerm, Will McCormack, and Sean Palmer. It was previously produced in June 2003 at the Trinity Repertory Company, Providence, RI, directed by Oskar Eustis.
