The Loneliness of the Long Distance Walker is an episode in the British comedy series Dad's Army. It was originally transmitted on Saturday 15 March 1969.

To his complete surprise, Walker receives his call-up papers. Mainwaring tries his best to get them to reconsider.

When Walker is called up, he applies to the Military Service Hardship Committee, who reject him on the grounds that he doesn't keep books for his business. After Jones' attempts to sabotage his medical test fail, he is invalided out because he's allergic to Corned beef.

  1. This episode is currently missing from the BBC's television archives after they wiped them so they could reuse the tapes. This is one of three Dad's Army episodes that are still missing from the archives. The others are A Stripe for Frazer and Under Fire.
