The Living Unknown Soldier is a play devised by London-based theatre company, Simple 8, loosely based on the book of the same name by French historian, Jean-Yves Le Naour. The play dramatises the real events surrounding the return of a soldier to France from World War 1, who had suffered amnesia. Given the name Antelme Mangin, he became a cause celebre in France, with thousands of families coming forward to claim him as their own. The play began on 12 February, 2008, at the Arcola Theatre in London.
