The Live Wire: Woody Guthrie in Concert 1949 is a recording of a 1949 concert in Newark, New Jersey. The Recording is unique as few live recordings of Woody Guthrie survive. The program consists of Woody and Marjorie Guthrie on stage. Woody answers Marjorie's questions about his life and sings accompanying songs. The recording was taken on two spools of wire, a significant restoration process was required to clean up the audio of these wires.[1] In 2008 the album won a Grammy Award for Best Historical Album.[1]
