[edit] Plot

Jerry is smitten with a linewoman at the U.S. Open, but after he gets her attention, he finds out she is deaf. Elaine pretends to be deaf to avoid having to converse with the driver of her car service. George wants to use Jerry's girlfriend to read the lips of his ex-girlfriend (Gwen) to find out what she is saying about him. While she is reading the lips, Kramer does the translation, making mistakes that force George into an embarrassing situation. Kramer becomes the first "ball man" (as opposed to a ball boy) at the Open, when Monica Seles returns to tennis.

[edit] Trivia

  • The script called for Jerry and George to just simply mumble their lines in front of Laura at the restaurant. It was Jason Alexander and Jerry who decided to place objects in front of their face to hide their lips.

[edit] Superman reference

At the apartment, George says, "It's like being friends with Superman" when referring to Laura.

[edit] Goofs

The episode is inconsistent when dealing with the day of the week. The episode opens on what is said to be Friday (according to Elaine's co worker while discussing transportation), transitions to Saturday (with Jerry, George, and Laura at the restaurant), and then the very next day is Todd's party, which is said to be occurring on a Friday.
