The Inexperienced Spiral Traveller is the title of Darkwave band Sopor Aeternus & The Ensemble of Shadows' third album. It was released in 1997. "The Inexperienced Spiral Traveller" continued the sound of Todeswunsch - Sous le soleil de Saturne, but with tighter arrangements and some throwbacks to the first album "...Ich töte mich...", including the opening track "Sylla'borêal" and the use of drum machines throughout. Anna-Varney has often stated that this is the worst album she has ever made, despite containing the perennial favourite "May I Kiss your Wound?" A limited pressing of 3,000 CDs with a wholly different cover was initially available.
In 2004, "The Inexperienced Spiral Traveller" was re-released with entirely new artwork, including a radically new cover. The new artwork parodied a tourism package, including a passport and the photographs from the older version encaspulated in Polaroid borders. The back cover also featured a mock advertisement for the Synchro-Box, quoted to be "the best device to travel the continuum".

[edit] Notes
- All song titles had their subtitles removed on the 2004 re-release edition.
- This is the second instance of the song "Birth - Fiendish Figuration" appearing on an album (in this release as, "Memories Are Haunted Places"); the first being on "...Ich töte mich jedesmal aufs Neue, doch ich bin unsterblich, und ich erstehe wieder auf; in einer Vision der Untergangs...".
