The Hurricanes are an Edinburgh based band, formed in early 2005 when all members met at Loretto School. They have been playing together ever since. They played their first gig in the middle of 2006 in Edinburgh and have since then been moving on to play larger venues in different areas of the country.[citation needed] In August 2007 they embarked on their first UK tour playing two shows in London and others around the country to a very warm reception which has seen them expand their increasing profile from Edinburgh.
"A sound that's simultaneously right-up-to-date and as old school as they come. The only thing more exciting than their tunes is their electric live performance". - Cabaret Voltaire
They have had plays on XFM Scotland & BBC Radio Scotland and articles have appeared in The List and Edinburgh Evening News.[citation needed] So far in 2007 The Hurricanes have played a string of shows most notably supporting Neils Children and The Electric City. The band recently played with Bombay Bicycle Club and Mystery Jets in Edinburgh.[citation needed]
