The House Across the Bay (1940) film directed by Archie Mayo, produced by Walter Wanger, written by Myles Connolly and Kathryn Scola, and released by United Artists. It is about a singer (Joan Bennett) who waits for an imprisoned gangster (George Raft) to be released from Alcatraz. Some scenes of Pidgeon and Bennett in an airplane were filmed by Alfred Hitchcock as a favor to Wanger, who directed Foreign Correspondent for Wanger the same year.
