"The Hostage" is a 1974 pop-rock hit released by Donna Summer on the Groovy record label. It was the first single from Summer's debut album Lady of the Night. It became her first European hit when it was released in selected countries in 1974 reaching number-one on the Belgian pop charts and number two in the Netherlands. It'll be a full year before Donna would release material in her native America, finally doing so with the "Love to Love You Baby" single.
