The Holloways are a four-piece indie-rock band from North London. Their first single "Two Left Feet" entered the charts at number 33 in July, with the follow-up "Generator" charting at number 30 in October 2006. Generator subsequently named the NME's 16th best song of the year for 2006[1], their album So, this is Great Britain? was released on October 30, 2006 on the TVT label. The band have attracted attention in the media and a live following. NME have also tipped them to be one of the biggest bands around in the future.
The band formed in a live-music venue called Nambucca on the Holloway Road in 2004. The members are Alfie Jackson (vocals, guitars and harmonica), Rob Skipper (vocals, guitars and fiddle), Bryn Fowler (bass and backing vocals), and Dave Danger (drums and egg shaker).

[edit] Alfie Jackson
Alfie Jackson September 17, 1978 is the guitarist, harmonica player and singer of the band The Holloways. Alfie's real name is David and he spent a large part of his childhood and all his teens in Melton Mowbray, where he was part of a five piece band called Marvel, David's first band (1997-2000). Marvel played at the De Montfort Hall as well as supporting The Doves at the Charlotte in Leicester. He was raised in Leeds. He lives in Highgate and is currently dating Bonnie Beadle, the daughter of the late TV presenter Jeremy Beadle. He recently appeared on the music quiz, Never Mind The Buzzcocks. His favorite musicians include Eddie Cochran and Elvis Presley. One of David's pre-Holloways songs, "What's On Your Mind?" was written for his mother.

Dave Danger is the drummer of the band The Holloways. He was born on the 25th of September in Braintree, Essex.
[edit] Bryn Fowler
Bryn Fowler is the bassist and backing vocalist of the band The Holloways. His full name is Bryn Tremayne Fowler. He was born in June 1982. Originally from Lichfield in Staffordshire, Bryn attended Nether Stowe High School and was in a band called Silverline. Bryn moved to London in 2000 to go to Middlesex University where he got a Degree in Drama and Theatre Arts. He has recently moved from Holloway to somewhere else in north London and plays Orange bass amps. Bryn has been known to smash up his basses at gigs. He has done this on 3 occasions, once in the Leeds Cockpit, once at the Electric Ballroom in Camden and once at the Academy in Oxford which was filmed for rockworld.tv.
[edit] Rob Skipper
Rob Skipper born in December 1985 in Waltham Forest is a guitarist, fiddler and singer for the band The Holloways.[2] His full name is Robert Gareth Skipper. Skipper attended Millfield School in Street,_Somerset, Somerset.[3] In June 2003, Rob's previous group The Moulettes formed, then called "Hannah, Ruth and Rob." They first played at the Glastonbury Festival on the Greenpeace stage.[3] Skipper has a cameo on the Larrikin Love album, The Freedom Spark, on which he plays the fiddle for the single "Edwould".[4] [5] and the single "Happy as Annie". At one concert, Skipper reportedly climbed to the top of a ten foot speaker and battered his guitar into pieces.[6]

Alfie Jackson and Bryn Fowler established the beginnings of the band and went to a local pub and live music venue on Holloway Road in London called Nambucca. Skipper performed live, A week later, they saw Skipper perform again at the same venue and enjoyed it. They approached him afterwards with an invitation to have a jam session. On October 10, 2004, Skipper and Jackson met back at Nambucca to play. Drummer Dave Danger, who lived above the venue, invited them to play in his room. After an hour, Jackson and Skipper had six songs with guitar and fiddle parts and harmonizing vocals, which they performed. Danger immediately joined the band after hearing them play.[7]
Their band name comes from the fact that they were on Holloway Road when they formed the band.

Some of the songs of The Holloways are compared to Calypso music.[8] They usually make up tempo music.
A sample of the single "Generator" is used by Fearne and Reggie for their 'New Music Generator' section on BBC Radio 1 at weekends.
