The Higher Institute of Computer Technology

The Higher Institute of Compute Technology (Arabic: المعهد العالي لتقنيات الحاسوب ) sometimes abbreviated as HICT ) is a government sponsored leading institute of higher education in Tripoli, Libya. Founded in 1990. The Higher Institute of Computer Technology began with an emphasis on the computer sciences, engineering, networking and automated control .
The HICT has been ranked among the top three higher education institutions in Libya, The Institute has been named lately as The Vocational Higher Center for Computer Technology. The HICT known for his discipline and tough acceptance methods, also his alumni have good reputation in the local market and some of them holds a sensitive positions in the government.

The institute offers a three years Higher National Diploma in the following fields:
• Department of ( Hardware and Maintenance ):
o Computer Networks. o Automated Control Engineering. o Computer Engineering and Maintenance.
• Department of (Computer Science and IT):
o Software Developing.
• Department of Training Courses.
o IT and Maintenance Courses. o Control Courses. o Systems administration Courses. o Networking Courses.
Currently the Institute teaches around 1000 students , and the number of students increase every year.

The undergraduate programs that the institute offers is a HND ( Higher National Diploma) includes 130 to 140 academic credits which will be taken in three years of full time study.

The Institute is sponsored by the government so all tuition fees are paid by the government and there are very few positions for student every year especially foreign students.
