The Henley College

The Henley College is a sixth form college in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, England. It is the only tertiary college in Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. The college offers academic and vocational courses. The college has its origins in Henley Grammar School which was founded in 1604 under a charter granted by King James I. In 1976 the Grammar School became King James's College, the amalgamation of which in 1987 with the Henley Technical College formed the present institution.
The college consists of two sites, Deanfield and Rotherfield, the latter located off the top of the (steep) road and often referred to by the students as "going up the hill". A third site at the bottom of the hill, Southfield, was previously home to the English, Drama Studies and Catering departments but was demolished in 1998 and the land sold to fund improvements to the rest of the site.
The college offers a range of full-time courses, including A levels, the International Baccalaureate, BTEC National Diploma and NVQs. It also runs adult education and part-time courses leading to a variety of qualifications.
The college has been noted for the standard of its Performing Arts department and is home to The Completely Cuckoo Theatre Company.
