The Heights Observatory

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Heights School in Modbury Heights, Adelaide, South Australia has its own officially registered astronomical Observatory. See http://www.assa.org.au/facilities/theheights/ or http://www.theheightsschool.com.au/observatory.shtml or The Heights School (Australia)

The Observatory opened in 1989 with a 12" Dall-Kirkham design reflector in a dome, and a 10" Meade SCT was added in 1996 in a roll off roof building.

There is an active Student Astronomy Group in which the students learn basic astronomical theory, and also do practical observing with both telescopes.
