[edit] 2008

Led by William Marshall (U6) and Chris Pritchard (L6), the Headmasters Trophy was played before a crowd of approximately 2,000 people and was a 13-0 victory to the Upper Sixth.

[edit] The Game

Kicking off at 2.30pm on a sunny march afternoon, the game was tense to begin with. After 10 minutes, the Upper Sixth got a penalty after an infringement from the Lower Sixth pack. Upper Sixth fly half, Dan Stewart, put over from in front of the posts to give his side a 3-0 lead. From the restart, the Upper Sixth went through the phases once again, until they began to pick and drive in their opponents half. After numerous phases, Gareth Wassell, the Upper Sixth lock, showed brilliant hands to release Alex Beck who crossed over from a yard out. Once again, Stewart put over to give his side a 10-0 lead. In the last 10 minutes of the 1st Half, the Lower Sixth exerted some extreme pressure and were unlucky not to go over with Michael Maddison, Anthony Green and Chris Pritchard all going close. The second half was a tense affair with the only points coming courtesy of a second half drop goal from Stewart. The only negative of the afternoon was what looked to be like a serious injury to Anthony Green, but much to everyone's relief Green re-entered the play minutes later.
