The Gruffalo's Child by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler is the bestselling sequel to The Gruffalo.

The story is about the Gruffalo's daughter, who is brave enough to resist her father, setting off into the woods in order to find the 'big bad mouse' which is the only thing her dad is afraid of.

On the way she encounters other beasts of the forest inclding a snake, an owl, and a fox. After her unsuccessful search, she sits down and says she doesn't believe in the 'big bad mouse', when it finally appears, and realised it isn't big and bad as her dad described.

However, the mouse, as smart as it is, tricks the gruffulo by standing on a tree branch which enlarges the mouse's shadow and scaring the gruffalo back to its cave. Then the mouse approaches.

It is a typical 'looks can be deceiving' plot and if you have read The Gruffalo you may notice the storyline is similar.
