The Good Mother (2006 film)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Good Mother also known as Glass House: The Good Mother is a novel and a direct-to-video follow-up to The Glass House. It stars Angie Harmon, Jordan Hinson, and Joel Gretsch. It has nothing to do with characters from the previous movie, only basic ideas.
[edit] Plot Summary
The film tells the story of Abby (Jordan Hinson) and Ethan, who lose their parents in a tragic accident and are adopted by Eve (Angie Harmon) and Raymond Goode, two seemingly-ideal parents who have recently lost a child of their own. But after they move into the Goode's isolated Spanish style mansion, they aren't allowed to leave or make phone calls. Abby notices a lot of strange things. There's a bed in the basement and many places they can't go into, like the previous child's room. Ethan gets his own room with a bathroom close to the master bedroom, but Abby gets a bedroom far away, up in the tower of the house. Ethan soon becomes almost deathly ill; and Abby discovers that Eve is poisoning him, and that Eve has done the same to previous foster children who died in her care. Abby makes an attempt to escape, but Eve catches her and locks her in the attic. Abby escapes through a window, knocks Eve down some stairs, and after Eve comes back for her, Raymond ends up shooting his wife, killing her. Abby and Ethan presumably end up with their parents' friend Ben (played by Jason London) a police officer who had become suspicious of the Goodes.
[edit] Mental illness
The film does not say, but suggests that the character Eve suffered from Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy.
