The Golden Isles

The Golden Isles are the group of islands off the coast on Georgia, USA in the Atlantic Ocean. The Golden Isles were named so by the famous poet Sidney Lanier. The islands include St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island, Sea Island, Cumberland Island, and Little St. Simons Island. St. Simons Island was an instrumental battle field when General James Edward Oglethorpe as he defeated the Spanish in the 1700s at the Battle of Bloody Marsh and the Battle of Gully Hole Creek.
