"The Getaway" is a pop rock song written by Julian Bunetta and James Michael, and produced by Bunetta for Hilary Duff's second album, Hilary Duff (2004). It was released as a radio single in the United States in late November 2004 (see 2004 in music)[1] and in Canada in late January 2005 (see 2005 in music). According to Radio & Records Canada, in its first week of release, the song was being added to the playlists of more contemporary hit radio stations than any other song,[2] and it became one of the most-played songs of the year on Mix 96 radio stations.[3] In February 2005, popdirt.com reported that a full single release for "The Getaway" was scheduled for January but cancelled after sales of Hilary Duff went into a "sudden drop".[4]
