Founded by Elliott Galloway, the father of Jeff Galloway, in 1969, the Galloway School is a private school located in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia in the United States. Galloway calls itself a "community of learners" who are dedicated to life long learning. The overall principle of the Galloway School is "behave yourself and try." (An often-cited inside joke among students of the school is that Elliot Galloway was going to leave the school rules at simply "Behave yourself" and "Try", but that he later found reason to instate a third, but equally important rule, "Always wear shoes".) The Galloway School is a private, co-educational day school dedicated to offering a well rounded academic program for children ages 3 through grade 12.

[edit] Mission
The Mission of The Galloway School is to develop a diverse community of learners who support the concept of solid performance, to create an environment that places a high premium on human dignity and common decency and to instill a lifelong interest in learning. The development of critical thinking skills is a unique and core part of the curriculum. Students are equipped to take initiative, find creative solutions and compete successfully in rigorous learning environments.
[edit] School Divisions
In order to better fit the needs of students of all ages, The Galloway School is built of three component schools that represent the Elementary, Middle and High School levels of education in the American Public School structure.
[edit] Early Learning
Includes smaller classes of ages 3-10.
[edit] Middle Learning
- Acts as a middle school, includes grades 5-8 - expands to 60 students per grade in 6th grade.
[edit] Upper Learning
- Houses grades 9-12
[edit] Galloway Athletics
As opposed to placing winning as the most important objective of athletics, The Galloway School uses its entire Athletics program as a building block for each student's drive to maintain a love and appreciation for a state of lifelong fitness. [1]. The Scots have won three team state championships competing in single A. Recently, the Scots won the 2006 girls golf championship. In addition to athletic success, Galloway's theater program has been even more successful winning 3 of the last 9 state championships. [2].
