The Gadget Shop is an electronic toy retailer based in the United Kingdom, and offers many unusual products such as the "USB Cup Warmer", the "Time Machine Clock", and the "Solar Airship".
The company was founded in 1991 by Jonathan Elvidge who was 27 at that time. Elvidge was a worker for Kingston Communications (KC) and whilst working for them, decided to rent a plot in the Princes Quay shopping centre in Hull, which was being built at the time. He decided to leave KC and run the shop.[citation needed]
The company entered administration in March 2005, the company trade marks and domain names were acquired by The Entertainer (Amersham) Ltd., and is currently run by Stuart Grant son of Gary Grant, the founder of The Entertainer group which is also the United Kingdom's largest independent toy retailer. The newly managed Gadgetshop now trades exclusively online at the website listed below.[citation needed]
